Peace In the Midst of The Storm
75Peace In The Midst of The Storm
Let me tell you this right off the bat, it is hard to have Peace In the Midst of The Storm! Let me relate this to a real life rain storm because we had one not long ago and I have to tell the truth, I did not have any peace at all until the winds stopped blowing and it settled into raining only. A large tree was lying across my back yard and it missed the utility building in the back but got part of the fig tree. It was scary and makes one to know that you have no control over some things in life and a storm is one of them. It would be very hard to be at Peace In The Midst of The Storm with the winds blowing, the trees falling around you, chairs being thrown and not knowing if the next minute the house you are in might be sailing through the air. This does happen and I am thankful my home was saved.
This is real life, not practice and the storms of life are no easier than the one I just described. They can fill us with fear, pain and loss, they can make us feel weak and in distress. They can sap our strength and we can get discouraged but when God says it is enough, we come alive again when the winds stop blowing and the sea calms,we feel safe again.
One of the greatest comforts from the word is this: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. There is a river, the steams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early." Psalms 46.1-5. Psalms and Proverbs have some of the best reading for a hurting heart and these Old Testament truths tell us that we are not alone and someone has been down this road before. Nothing better!
I may not can be at my best in the midst of my non-spiritual storms but when it comes to my spiritual life and the storms that come with being born into this beautiful world, I know that I have a God who is my refuge and strength and I know this according to His words.I know He is faithful and a just God and He is not willing that any perish and He will deliver, when enough is enough. There are trials we must go through, burdens we must bear and sometimes we have to fight with all we have in us, but in the end, we will overcome if we keep the faith and keep praising His name.
Being able to withstand the trials of life is part of our spiritual climb into His presence. We grow, we learn how to deal better with things the next time. We grow to know that the less fuss we put up, the better and easier it is to follow God's plan for you in the midst of the storm. God has never said there would be sunshine without rain, nor sorrow without pain, but what He does say, it that if we endure, we have His promise of deliverance. We cannot live in this life without storms, spiritual or physical. They come and go, we buckle up and stay close to Him. There is always something in our life that is good and we have to focus on that and know that "this too shall pass." Everything does...sooner or later and we find Peace In The Midst Of The Storm. God Bless

Thank you for this Hub. We can have total peace in the middle of a storm if we first realize that Our Heavenly Father God is at our side holding our hand protecting us from all serious harm, for it is His wish that noe should perish.
Brother Dave.
Your hub reminds me so much of the song by the English group from Merseyside Gerry and the Pacemakers From Liverpool, "When you walk through a storm hold your head up high" the song adopted by Liverpool Football Club as their anthem. Both your hub and that song bring comfort a port in lifes storm.
Thanks for making this information available.I've been blessed
God bless you

Thank you for this essay. I *really* needed to be reminded of how God's peace and grace endure, no matter what has happened.
