Peace of Mind On An UnPeaceful Day

Peace of Mind

I simply can't think of anything more compelling than to have Peace of Mind. It is something that is at the very root of our being as the Nation is struggling with the economy, health care reform and the spending. We have our own personal life we are trying desperately to become peaceful with and keep our life intact as much as we can and then we are wondering what is going to happen to this Country.  Some people lives are upside down; the lose of their homes, jobs and their healthy way of living.   It just isn't easy any longer to find the Peace of Mind we crave.

If I had a theory about obtaining Peace of Mind, I would start with trying to rid myself of any extra baggage that I have no control over. That of course, means the status of our Country as we can't control what the decisions being made.

Our personal life is very different, it is what makes us tick. If we are agitated, angry, unsatisfied, unhappy and filled with distraught circumstances, it is hard to just lay it down and forget it. In fact we can't just forget it, we must look at our options and seek personal strength to overcome our hardships and survive in a universe of confusion. There are some things in our personal life that we have no control over also. This can be when it involves another person whose actions we are not comfortable.  We can only control ourselves and it is up to us to do it. We are going to have times in our life, where things need to fixed and we have to find a way if at all possible; to fix those things, one step at a time.   We should not despair but work on our difficult times to bring peace to chaos.

Peace of Mind is described as mental freedom. When the mind is at rest; there is calmness, comfort, fulfillment, pleasure and we can be full of delight. There is no greater emotion or should I just say "feeling" than to have Peace of Mind and not be worried about how our life is going to play out.  Worry is not the cure; it only adds to the discomfort.  We worry sometimes about things which we think "might" happen, and in all reality we let the negative thoughts control us.  We should try to live in the minute with "thanksgiving" for our health, our family, our hope, and our protection which is from above. We should know that we cannot control the "might ifs" in our life, but we can control our mind not to think of those things. We are creating something to worry about that "might" not happen....and this will not provide us with the Peace we are seeking.

The Battle In The Mind

It is said that most of our battles are fought in the mind. Why, we seem to play out how something is going to happen before it even occurs and sometimes it isn't what we have thought or usually isn't as bad as we have imagined. The best way to fight our battles is in knowing; we are not alone..call it your angel, your guardian or your God. I know I have a strength to help me carry the disappointments in my life and that I will rise above and be at Peace again.

Sometimes it might be easy to look at ourselves and complain with the "if only" I were this, that and the other. "If only" God had made me rich, pretty or famous. He gave us all the potential to accomplish good things. We have freedom of choice and maybe we made wrong decisions or took the wrong path. He allows us to make our choice and then we must live our life accordingly. The "if only" will not give us anything but regrets. They are no good; no help and allows us to wallow in our self-pity.

Peace of Mind does not necessarily mean that you are happy with where you are at the moment, but that you have the power within you to endure and know that "this too shall pass." Being tranquil, calm, at ease with how life is playing at the moment takes a lot of grit and courage and strength. It isn't always easy to pretend everything is alright when it isn't, but if you can; it will pass right before your eye. How can it, you might say? Because nothing and I mean nothing last forever. It just doesn't. All things end, even our life. Think about it. What can you think of that last forever? We should not waste it and try to live each day fully and with expectations of a better day. Oh, yes I know that when life turns a curve that wasn't intended; no one can be calm and at ease with their life; but we can gain strength in knowing that others have been there and done that more often than we realize and that we will live through whatever it is that has brought to this point.

If we can control our mind thoughts; we can live more peacefully. We have so much to be thankful for in our life. The love of a child, the love of our family, our spouse, our friends. Think on the good stuff. Let the negative go. I have found that keeping my mind productive; keeps me from trying to look at tomorrow or back on yesterday. I can't control either one. I made mistakes yesterday, but I have today to try and help correct them. I can't know what tomorrow will bring because when it is here; it will be today. So, I rest in the fact that I can only live one moment in time and if this moment is healthy and blessed in any way; I am more fortunate than many, many other souls and that bring me Peace of Mind and I pray for peace for all.
