When God Answers Prayer

When We Pray

Most of us have been on our knees at one time or the other with a prayer request for something or someone, that was troubling our soul; When We Pray. Physically maybe not; but mentally we humbled our hearts to the worshipful state to make our request known unto the Father. I say most of us, because there are not many humans who have not faced a situation or time in their life; that there seemed to be no answers, no intervention and no hope. This is when you hear; "Oh God, help me." At these times it doesn't matter if we are a professed christian or a person who has denied their belief in prayer. It is a time of reaching out for help, relief, or comfort and we are at the state of such discomfort that we will try anything. We finally realize that this seems to be the last hope for getting back to feeling normal again. It is sad that we wait so long sometimes, to reach for the unseen hand of the Almighty God, with a plea for help.

Strange and sad as it may be; sometimes even the most dutiful christian can leave God in the last position. We forget that we are mere humans, with only minimal power to sustain ourselves in times of the unbearable. We try everything else we can think of and when nothing else works, we then go to Him. Why? We want to conquer all things ourselves and we just can't comprehend this unseen hand of mercy making something happen that is impossible for the human side of life. We want to figure things out ourselves. We want to take the credit for being strong and being able to work through the tough times instead of acknowledging that somethings are not meant for us to handle.

Being individuals of unequal attributes and strengths, some handle life's ups and downs, troubles and heartaches differently. Life is always better when we remember to pray to the Father even for those things that appear unanswerable. Sometimes one can hardly breath, much less pray, when something so awful happens. These are times that God sees our pain and opens up His arms, sends down His angels of love to replenishes our strength for our next course of action. He and only He can really understand what is inside our hearts and souls.

When God Answers Prayers

Sometimes when we have had the breath knocked out of us, it seems...if we could only remember this scripture relating to the "Power" of God....

Isaiah 40: 28-31- "Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint".

This scripture gives the assurance that God is for us in our times of weakness, our time of suffering and even when we feel shame. He knows what our needs are and he loves us no matter what and he will not allow us to suffer more than we can bear.

Why we wait sometimes to call upon our Lord to solve our problems and lighten our heart of pain and fear; I do not know. What I do know is that When God Answers Prayers and even when He doesn't; HE MAKES NO MISTAKES. We may not understand this; but He sees the future, He doesn't make people love us, He allows humans to make their own decisions. He knows what is best for us and sometimes He will allow us to hurt; that does not mean we are being punished; God loves us but all humans are equal in His eyes and all humans suffer at some point in life.

Life is sometimes "unfair" and not a soul living has not thought that thought, at some point in their life. We do not understand why our loved ones are sometimes taken before their time, we can't understand how someone can stop loving us; how a child can throw away their life. How a toddler can have the awful disease of cancer. These things seem unfair. When we pray for these kinds of things and do not get the answers we feel should God should give us; it seems our faith become weak and we want to blame Him.

The pain we sometimes feel can only help us gain power and strength for the rest of our life. It gives us widom we would not have, it helps us understand others more and prepares us for what may be in our future. When God Answers Prayers, He doesn't make a large show for anyone. With the soft touch of His masterful hand, He calms the troubled waters of our souls. He send peace and helps us to move on.

You are correct, when God answers our prayers, He makes no mistakes. Although the answer may not come in the form we are expecting or desiring, we should remember that His will will be done, and he knows what is best for our lives. Thanks for writing.

Namaste.

Fantastic hub. God is always in charge and it seems when prayers aren't immediately answered in our time frame, so often everything works out with something even better. This hub was a great reminder about the importance of prayer. God Bless you.

Very well written. I am often reminding myself that sometimes God says "Yes", sometimes He says "No", and sometimes He says "Wait". I do, however, rest in the assurance that He does always answer. I look forward to reading more from you.

God answers all prayer, in His timing and in His ways. We have to remember though that His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, his ways higher than our ways. God sees the whole picture, beginning to end, while we only see things in part as we are finite, not infinite.

Great hub, I think when we feel our prayers are unanswered it is the most confusing thing for our hearts and you are so right sometimes we can't recall what the word says about our inheritance in Christ, I wrote a hub 'Hindrances to answered prayer' that answers a lot of these questions you bring up in this hub! God bless you my Sister in Christ!

I believe when we ask for sure, God will answer our prayer. I must come from our pure heart. Never pray only when you find a trouble, you feel sad or angry. But we have to pray if we feel happy, right. Nice hub and very inspiring. Vote this up.

Thank you LC for the encouraging reminder. I often say that I have two rules when driving: 1. Never ask directions and 2. If you think you are going the wrong way, speed up! I'm afraid that a lot of us use those rules about prayer when the truth is you can't ever have enough of his directions and the minute he tells you you are going the wrong way--hit the brakes and turn around. =:)

lctodd1947 profile image

thank you Winsome for the words of wisdom. I have turned the speed up many times also and I know God would like our full attention all the time instead of just when we need something. Thanks for coming by.

Great hub with great insights to ponder about prayer. Truly prayer is a great privelege given by God to us as His children. WE must always make the most of it. Thank you for a timely reminder. Blessings to you and your family. regards.

This is an inspirational hub. It reminds all of us to pray in good and bad times. You are right that God makes no mistake. I just want to share this bible verse in Philippians 4:6 "In everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."

I also read in Our Daily Bread written by an unknown author who expressed prayer in this way:

"I asked for health that I might do greater things;

I was given infirmity that I might do better things.

I asked God for strength that I might achieve;

I was made weak that I might learn to obey.

I asked for riches that I might be happy;

I was given poverty that I might be wise.

I asked for power and praise of men;

I was given weakness to sense my need of God.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;

I was given life that I might enjoy things.

I got nothing I asked for but everything I hoped for;

In spite of myself, my prayers were answered ---

I am among all men most richly blessed."

Indeed, God really makes all things beautiful in His time.
